The state government has done a great job of providing houses to its underprivileged citizens through the Chief Minister Housing Scheme Rural, also known as Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Since its launch in February 2018, the scheme has given out an impressive 2.57 lakh houses to people in need by 2023-24, showing how committed the government is to helping the underprivileged.

This initiative is praised for including everyone, especially backward castes. Many people from communities like Musahar, Kol, Vantangiya, Tharu, Sahariya, Chero, Baiga, Nat, and Boxa have benefited from this scheme. It also helps vulnerable groups like the disabled, those affected by natural disasters, and people with diseases like leprosy and Japanese encephalitis/acute encephalitis syndrome.
The numbers speak for themselves. From 2018-19 to 2023-24, the scheme has given out 47,795 houses to Musahar caste, 29,923 to Kol, 4,838 to Vantangiya, 3,233 to Tharu, 6,979 to Sahariya, 5,367 to Chero, 1,584 to Nat, 2,220 to Boxa, 164 to Pachhaiya Lohar, and 11 to Gadhaiya Lohar. It has also allocated 71,257 houses for Divyaganjan, 78,101 for victims of natural disasters, 5,021 for leprosy victims, 674 for JE/AES, and 249 for Kala-azar victims.
Districts like Amroha, Shamli, Bareilly, Bijnor, and Bhadohi are leading in completing a large number of houses as per their targets. The government has told all districts to finish their quotas by March 20, showing how serious they are about making sure everyone gets a fair chance at housing.
