MCD Seals Eight Properties in Shahdara South Zone Over Property Tax Default…..

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) took action against property tax defaulters in Shahdara south zone, sealing eight properties on Tuesday. These properties were owned by individuals who had collectively avoided paying a total tax amounting to Rs 1.36 crore, as stated by the civic body. Specifically, the corporation’s Assessment and Collection department sealed four properties each in Gandhi Nagar and Lalita Park.

To address the issue of property tax evasion, the MCD has issued a warning to defaulters, stating that strict action will be taken. Property taxpayers are urged to clear their outstanding dues by March 31, 2024, to avoid such repercussions, according to a statement from the civic body.

In the upcoming week, the MCD’s department plans to seal approximately 26 more properties identified in various wards of Shahdara South zone. This action is part of the MCD’s efforts to ensure that property taxes are paid promptly and that defaulters are held accountable.
