Investors who put money into an NRI township Plots on Yamuna Expressway 13 years ago are still waiting for developed plots. These plots, sold by SDS Infracon between 2011 and 2015, were promised to have medical and educational institutions, and a commercial complex. However, the township lacks basic amenities like electricity, water supply, roads, and drains. Additionally, 800 plots remain unregistered due to the developer’s outstanding dues of Rs 643 crore.

The Yamuna Expressway Authority announced it would approve house maps for 600 registered plots if owners agreed to pay 64.7% additional compensation to farmers. However, plot owners are hesitant due to the high compensation rate of Rs 7,500 per sqm.
A group of plot buyers formed an association and approached the Allahabad High Court seeking completion of the remaining work through a co-developer. They criticize both the developer and the Authority for allowing registry without basic amenities and not taking action when the developer defaulted on EMIs.
Plot buyers also filed cases against the developer for allegedly siphoning off Rs 182 crore for other projects in 2018. The case was reopened in July 2023 after a local court rejected the police’s final report.
The builder’s representative claims the Authority was responsible for providing facilities till the township, including electricity transmission lines, water pipelines, and approach roads. The Authority CEO stated they were working to provide relief to plot buyers.
