Haryana CM Announces Distribution of Plot Possession Certificates to BPL Families

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Sunday that his government would issue possession certificates for 100 square yard plots to over 7,500 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. These certificates, along with the registration of the plots, will be distributed on the spot.
Saini emphasized that beneficiaries would receive their possession certificates at various locations across Haryana on Monday. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing housing for all under this ambitious scheme. Criticizing the previous Congress administration, Saini claimed they had failed to deliver on their promises under the Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojana, as no written documents were provided to beneficiaries.
In the 2024-25 budget speech, former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced the plan to hand over plots to approximately 20,000 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. To further assist pending beneficiaries, the current government has decided to provide financial aid of up to Rs 1 lakh per person to 12,500 individuals, enabling them to purchase plots.
The state government is conducting a survey to identify new eligible individuals and will soon launch a portal for housing applications.
Highlighting past achievements, Saini noted that over the last decade, 14,939 houses have been constructed and provided to poor families in Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with an expenditure of Rs 552 crore. Additionally, 15,356 houses are currently under construction, with keys to these homes to be distributed soon.
The government is also running the B R Ambedkar Awas Navinikran Yojna for house repairs, benefiting 2,138 individuals with financial assistance directly deposited into their bank accounts. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, 29,440 houses were approved, and 26,318 have been completed, with each beneficiary receiving Rs 1.38 lakh, totaling Rs 376 crore in assistance.
This initiative underscores the Haryana government’s ongoing efforts to ensure adequate housing for all, fulfilling its commitment to improving the living conditions of BPL families across the state.
