Harnandipuram Township Development: 501 Hectares to Acquire

Ghaziabad is making significant strides toward the development of the ambitious Harnandipuram township, which is set to span 521 hectares. In a key meeting on Friday, District Magistrate (DM) Indra Vikram Singh, alongside local officials, established a six-member committee to facilitate the land acquisition process for this major urban expansion. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), along with tehsil-level officials, has been tasked with surveying the land set for acquisition, a crucial step for the Harnandipuram township development.

Land Acquisition Process & Financial Investment

The development authority aims to acquire 501 hectares for the Harnandipuram township development. While GDA already holds 11 hectares in its possession, it must acquire the remaining 490 hectares from eight surrounding villages. Key locations include Nangla Ferozepur (247.8 hectares), Shamsher (124 hectares), and Shahpur Morta (54.2 hectares), among others. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10,000 crore, with a significant portion allocated for land acquisition at mutually agreed rates from local farmers.

To ensure transparency and smooth execution, a government mandate requires the formation of a committee for land acquisitions exceeding Rs 10 crore. The newly formed six-member committee comprises the ADM of finance and revenue, the GDA vice chairperson, officials from the tehsil level, representatives from the stamp department, and the GDA secretary. Their first task was a joint survey of the land to be acquired, which will help guide future steps for the Harnandipuram township development.

Government Support & Future Plans

The state government has committed to covering 50% of the project’s total cost through the CM Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme. The GDA will fund the remaining balance. As part of the development process, the GDA is also preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Harnandipuram township development. To ensure the best quality, the authority has invited private firms to submit presentations, with a subsequent selection process based on their expertise and financial proposals.

This major urban expansion is set to transform the region, contributing to Ghaziabad’s ongoing growth while boosting its infrastructure and providing ample opportunities for the local community.
