The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Nishant Yadav, has approved the installation of gates in Vatika India Next and South City 1 following security concerns raised by residents. Approval was granted for 10 gates in Vatika India Next Colony and one gate in South City 1 after reviewing applications and recommendations from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and the police.

However, the police are yet to approve other applications, leading to a pending decision on the installation of gates in BPTP Astaire Garden and Experion colony off Dwarka Expressway. DC Nishant Yadav conducted a meeting on March 29 regarding gate installations, where permission was sought for various gates in different colonies.
District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav informed that no comments had been received yet from the police for BPTP and Experion Colony, leading to a delay in decisions for these colonies. The process for installation of gates or boom barriers in a colony involves applying to the Deputy Commissioner and the office of District Town Planner (Enforcement), followed by a decision based on committee members’ opinions.
Approval for installation of gates on internal roads was given after examining security concerns and traffic impact. Only internal roads within residential blocks can have boom barriers, and security guards must be present at all boom barriers for emergency management. Residents must also display opening and closing hours for gates erected in the past with permission.
Residents have welcomed the move, citing safety and security concerns due to multiple entry and exit points in the colony. Lack of boom barriers manned by security guards has compromised safety, and residents urge the district administration and police to allow gates for their safety.
Under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975, any gate on 24-meter-wide roads, sector dividing roads, or any public road is illegal. Violation of approved layout plans could lead to penal action under section 10(2) of the Act.
