In Ghaziabad, three supervisors from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) were suspended recently due to their alleged involvement in promoting illegal construction activities in the Rajendra Nagar area. This Ghaziabad illegal construction led to the collapse of the sewer infrastructure, as reported by an official.

The vice-chairman of the GDA, Atul Vats, conducted a surprise inspection of the Rajendra Nagar area and discovered numerous instances of unauthorized construction. As a result, the GDA has suspended supervisors Anil Tyagi, Arvind Chauhan, and Raju Diwakar, with the suspension orders taking effect immediately.
Additionally, show cause notices have been issued to the junior engineer and assistant engineer responsible for the Rajendra Nagar area. Vats highlighted that while the construction maps were approved for housing purposes, the builders had erected shops in the stilt areas that were designated for parking.
During the inspection, it was observed that no technical personnel were present at the sites, and the builders were unable to produce the approved construction maps. Vats cautioned prospective buyers against purchasing properties involved in Ghaziabad illegal construction and warned builders against continuing such activities, emphasizing that any illegal buildings would be subject to demolition.
