Supertech Ltd Employee Protest: Unpaid Dues Demand in Noida

In Noida, over 300 employees of Supertech Limited, which is currently going through insolvency proceedings, gathered for a protest on Tuesday. Alongside the employees, several vendors also joined in, demanding that the company clear the unpaid salaries and dues that have been pending for months.

Both the employees and vendors have reached out to the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), asking for its help in getting the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP), Hitesh Goel, to settle the overdue payments. The protest began early Tuesday morning at the company’s office in Sector 96, with workers expressing their frustration over five months of unpaid wages. For many, the Supertech Ltd employee protest became a last resort to address their financial struggles.

These employees haven’t been paid since September 2024, and it’s been taking a toll on their lives. Many are struggling to pay basic bills like rent, loans, and school fees, and some even fear their children might be kicked out of school because of unpaid fees.

Supertech Ltd is part of the larger Supertech Group, and the company entered insolvency proceedings in March 2022 after a decision by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Following an appeal from former promoter Ram Kishor Arora, NCLAT allowed a creditors’ committee to be formed for Ecovillage 2 while other projects were placed under the supervision of IRP Goel.

On top of the employees, vendors of Supertech Ltd are also making their voices heard in the ongoing Supertech Ltd employee protest. The Shri Shyam Vendors Association, which represents them, has been demanding the payment of over Rs 200 crore in dues. The vendors have even staged an indefinite sit-in at Supertech Square, urging the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC)—the state-backed organization overseeing the completion of Supertech’s unfinished housing projects—to release at least 50% of their payments before resuming any work on the projects.

In December 2024, NCLAT ordered NBCC to complete 16 of Supertech’s stalled projects, but the vendors’ requests for partial payments have not yet been addressed. The vendors have filed a petition with NCLAT, which has already heard their case and is awaiting a written submission from IRP Goel.

Despite earlier assurances from the IRP that outstanding dues for operational creditors would be settled on priority during the insolvency process, those promises have not been fulfilled. The vendors argue that when NCLAT ordered NBCC to continue work on Supertech’s projects, it failed to prioritize payments due to creditors, as required by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. These payments are essential for the completion of projects and the delivery of homes to buyers.

The Supertech Ltd employee protest is ongoing, with employees and vendors holding their ground. NCLAT has scheduled hearings for the employees’ case on February 10 and the vendors’ petition on February 11.
