23,811 Receive PM-UDAY Scheme Ownership Rights

As of July 16, 2024, a total of 23,811 individuals have been granted ownership rights to their properties under the Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY), according to Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has received 1,22,729 applications for ownership rights under this scheme, which was approved by the Union Cabinet in 2019 and subsequently passed by Parliament. The PM-UDAY scheme aims to provide ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi, thereby improving their living conditions and legal security.

In addition to the ownership rights, the DDA has disbursed Rs 2,173.81 crore towards various projects approved under the Urban Development Fund (UDF) over the last five years (2019-20 to 2023-24). Currently, there are 22 projects at different stages of implementation under the UDF. The PM-UDAY scheme ownership rights is a significant initiative to regularize unauthorized colonies, covering 1,731 such colonies primarily inhabited by economically weaker sections. This scheme ensures residents can secure loans and other financial services against their properties, thereby enhancing their financial stability and security.
