Haryana Property ID Verification to Begin Soon

The Haryana government is planning to initiate a door-to-door verification of property IDs in districts across South Haryana. This move will address long-standing concerns about irregularities in property ownership documents, which was a key issue raised during the recent assembly elections. The Haryana Property ID Verification process aims to clear up discrepancies and help streamline the property tax collection process.

After the new government took office, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a “Samadhan Sivir” at the district level, where most of the complaints were related to property IDs and the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). In light of these issues, division commissioner R C Bidhwan stressed the importance of wrapping up the Haryana Property ID Verification within the next two months. He urged municipal bodies in districts like Gurgaon, Rewari, and Mahendragarh to start a door-to-door campaign to verify property IDs.

Haryana Property ID Verification Key to Tax Collection

Verifying property IDs is essential before property tax collection can be properly carried out. In 2023, the Haryana government introduced online property IDs, which became mandatory for completing sale and purchase deeds. These IDs provide a unique number for each property and include important details like the owner’s name, contact info, property address, and dimensions.

Currently, Haryana has around 48 lakh registered properties, but the property tax database still has a lot of gaps, especially when it comes to owner contact information. According to government data, 42% of registered properties are missing contact details, and 34.1% lack the owner’s name.

Gurgaon Faces the Most Issues with Property IDs

Among all the municipal corporations in Haryana, Gurgaon has the highest number of property ID discrepancies. About 39.4% of properties in Gurgaon—around 9.15 lakh properties—are missing contact numbers, and 27.7% (roughly 2.53 lakh) properties don’t have the owner’s name listed. Faridabad also has significant issues, with 3.4 lakh properties missing contact numbers and 2.76 lakh properties lacking owner names.

Addressing Concerns Over Mismanagement

There have been complaints from residents who believe the property ID system is being mismanaged, with some suggesting that manipulation of the system may be causing delays and forcing people to offer bribes. The Haryana government is working to address these concerns by improving the Verification system and making the process more transparent.

Clearing Pending Revenue Cases

In addition to the Haryana Property ID Verification, division commissioner R C Bidhwan also emphasized the need to resolve pending revenue cases quickly in the Tehsildar, SDM, and deputy commissioner courts. Fast-tracking these land-related disputes will bring relief to the public and help ensure smooth agricultural activities.
