85% of Gurugram Property ID Complaints Delayed, Rejected

Residents in Gurugram and Faridabad are grappling with unresolved Gurugram Property ID complaints, with 85% of rectification requests sent back due to insufficient documentation, according to municipal data. Across Haryana, over 74,000 complaints remain unaddressed, and the NCR regions of Gurugram and Faridabad account for a significant portion of these grievances.

Newly appointed Gurugram municipal commissioner, Ashok Garg, expressed concern over the substantial number of Gurugram Property ID complaints being rejected, noting the need for process improvements. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has also highlighted the issue in recent discussions with officials.

Property IDs, which are essential for property transactions, tax payments, and utility connections, were mandated by the Haryana government to promote transparency. However, complaints about errors, mismatches, and a cumbersome process have mounted, drawing criticism from opposition parties, particularly during the recent elections.

Many applications have been returned to property owners for insufficient documentation. Often, applicants are not even notified that their complaints have been returned, causing further delays. Additionally, some Property ID complaints filed at state-run Samadhan Shivir camps also face similar setbacks, raising concerns about the effectiveness of these support initiatives.

A resident of Sushant Lok-3, James Lobo, shared his frustration over waiting 18 months for his property ID. He discovered errors in property dues and ownership records, and despite frequent submissions and visits to the municipal office, his complaint remains unresolved. Sachin Kalra from Sector 52 and Chaitali Mandhotra of Ardee City report similar issues despite numerous attempts to correct their records.

In January 2022, the state partnered with a private firm to digitize property records, but ongoing errors continue to hinder the system’s effectiveness.
