The enforcement wing of the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurugram recently conducted inspections at Sapphire Mall in Sector 83 and Sapphire 90 Mall in Sector 90, clearing encroachments in common areas. District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav oversaw the operation, which involved the immediate removal of encroachments in front of shops, accompanied by warnings to shopkeepers against future offenses. Both malls were inspected by junior engineers and field technicians.
The enforcement office had received complaints about encroachments in the common areas of both malls, which were confirmed during the Wednesday inspection. Encroachments included illegally installed kiosks and goods blocking visitor movement. In some areas, shop owners had encroached upon four to five feet of space in the corridors. Shopkeepers were instructed to move their goods inside, with a strict warning issued.
The enforcement team plans to revisit the malls in a week to ensure compliance and will take legal action if violations persist. Additionally, demolition drives were conducted in Sultanpur and Farrukhnagar, resulting in the removal of three illegal colonies with the assistance of earthmovers and police presence.
One of the demolished colonies was located in Farrukhnagar village, spanning approximately three acres and comprising seven structures, including a property dealer’s office. In Sultanpur village, two unauthorized colonies spread over 3.5 acres were also demolished.
Yadav urged locals not to invest in unauthorized colonies and to consult the DTP office before purchasing any land or plot.
