Chintels Paradiso Tower A Declared Unsafe: What’s Next?
Gurugram: The Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) has officially declared Chintels Paradiso Tower A unsafe for habitation, marking the eighth out of nine towers in the complex to be deemed structurally unsound. The recent audit identified severe structural deterioration in Chintels Paradiso Tower A, primarily due to high chloride levels and poor-quality concrete — similar to issues discovered in the previously assessed towers.
CChintels Paradiso Tower A consists of 64 flats, with 60 of them currently occupied. Earlier structural audits conducted by IIT-Delhi had already deemed Towers D, E, F, G, H, and J unsafe, with their demolition scheduled to commence next month. Initially, Towers A, B, and C were classified as safe but were flagged for potential risks in the future. As a precaution, Chintels India initiated a new round of audits by CBRI to reassess the structural integrity of all towers in the complex.
According to the latest CBRI report, most of the structural elements in Chintels Paradiso Tower A are heavily compromised, failing to meet Indian safety standards, especially in seismic zone IV. The primary causes of damage include extensive corrosion and substandard concrete quality.
A spokesperson for Chintels India stated, “Once Tower A is vacated, residents will be compensated or provided the option for reconstruction.” The audit report for Tower B, the final tower, is anticipated in the next 10 days.
